There are more than 2 million (2,022,622projects observed with reference to different European and national programming periods, for a monitored public cost of EUR 274.7 billion, while payments recorded at the end of the last two months of 2024 amount to EUR 169.2 billion. As regards the costs directly incurred by cohesion policies (the ‘cohesion cost’), it amounts to EUR 230.1 billion, with payments of EUR 151.7 billion.

The overall figure takes into account the final settlement phase of the Development and Cohesion Plans(opens in new window) (DCPs) covering the three programming periods 2000-2006, 2007-2013 and 2014-2020.

The National Monitoring System for the 2021-2027 programming period is being activated, through which data on funded projects will be made available on the portal. Information on the state of implementation of the 2021-2027 programming period is available in the Cohesion Policies Monitoring Bulletin, soon published by the Inspectorate General for Financial Relations with the European Union (IGRUE) of the Ministry of Economy and Finance. Currently on the portal are available only the data related to the projects pre-financed by the  Development and Cohesion Fund 2021-2027, which are monitored in the 2014-2020 version of the National Monitoring System.
