#REGIOSTARS 2025 – The new edition of the European Commission’s DG REGIO competition is kicking off, rewarding the best EU-funded cohesion policy projects that stand out for their effectiveness and innovation and demonstrate the impact and inclusiveness of regional development.
The competition awards projects in five categories that reflect the objectives of cohesion policy:
Category 1: A Competitive and Smart Europe
Category 2: A Green Europe
Category 3: A Connected Europe
Category 4: A Social and Inclusive Europe
Category 5: A Europe Closer to Citizens
The application must include a letter of support from the relevant Managing Authority, and must refer to a completed project that has received EU co-financing from the European Regional Development Fund, the Cohesion Fund, the European Social Fund or the Fair Transition Fund, or a project that has received EU funding under any component of the Interreg programmes as from 1 January 2014.
A jury of high-level academics will evaluate the submitted entries and select the winners of the five categories. The public will then decide the winner among the 25 finalists through a public online vote. The award ceremony will be held in Brussels in October during #EURegionsWeek.
