The 6th meeting of the European network #INFORMEU, the meeting organised by the European Commission from 27 to 29 May in the German city of Hannover, which involved the EU funds communication representatives of the 27 Member States with the aim of improving the visibility of the European Union’s work at national, regional and local level, concluded yesterday.

The information and communication unit of the Capacità per la Coesione NP #capcoe was also present, together with the Italian delegation.

Communicating the data and results of EU-funded projects to ensure adequate visibility through effective and quality communication actions is the central topic of this new meeting.

As in previous editions, the programme included visits to EU-funded projects  in Lower Saxony.

On the last day, ample space was dedicated to training sessions on various topics of interest. These include the opportunities and risks arising from the use of artificial intelligence tools, strategies to improve and make more effective the communication of projects on social channels, the creation of engaging podcast content.

This year’s edition also introduced a friendly competition in which Member States presented, in a time of eight minutes each, the best communication actions carried out at programme or project level that had a significant impact on the territory.

Inspired by the upcoming UEFA Euro 2024 tournament in Germany, the INFORM EU(ro) 2024 competition saw teams Germany-Interreg, Estonia-Sweden, Luxembourg-Italy and Latvia-Belgium face off in the quarter-finals. In an exciting quarter-final, Luxembourg overtook Italy by a single lead vote (113 against 112). Interreg prevailed over Estonia and Latvia over Luxembourg. Latvia triumphed in the final with an eloquence contest inspired by Hamlet’s monologue ‘Vote or not vote’, winning the title of 2024 communication champions.

The Italy team took part in the competition by presenting the project of the single national portal OpenCoesione and, under the theme of Research and Innovation (R&I), the video story of the Sardinia Radio Telescope and the IDMAR project, Europe’s largest underwater observatory (ERDF OP SICILY 2014-2020), as well as the educational course ‘AScuola di OpenCoesione’.
